Armchair BEA – Introductions and Classics Genre

Armchair BEA

Design by Emily of Emily’s Reading Room

Welcome to my blog!

My name is Retha Groenewald, and I am from beautiful South Africa. This is my first Armchair BEA, and I am sitting on two, no three chairs, an author’s chair, a blogger’s chair and a reader’s chair.

During June 2012 I entered the blogging world with my first blog, Discover Bible Treasure. A month later I launched Bible Fascination. I love reading and since February this year, I began blogging reviews about the books that I read.

The Four Faces is my first novel and was published in March 2013.

I am taking part in a lot of reading challenges in 2013. From my To-Be-Read piles and book review sites, I have read some remarkable books this year. Trying to choose my favorite book is an impossible task. The next best thing I could do was to create Great Christian Variety, a list on Goodreads. The list contains the books I have read in 2013, and have given 4 or 5 stars.

My favourite post is probably the one containing the excerpt from the first chapter of The Four Faces. The joy I felt when I published the post, knowing my book have been published, was a phenomenal feeling!

Genre: Classic Literature

I entered two blogs for the Armchair BEA, Discover Bible Treasures and my author’s blog. On the author’s blog, some of the characters in The Four Faces are attending the conference.

Regarding the genre discussion around classic literature, I am referring you to my author’s blog. The moles did a great job in selecting some my favourite classics. Here is a copy of the list.

List of classic books we like and recommend:

  • Anna Karenina by Loy Tolstoy
  • Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
  • The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodr Dostoyevsky
  • The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolken
  • Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery
  • The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (The Chronicles of Narnia) by C.S. Lewis

I have started reading both The Hobbit and LotR several times, and I just can’t get into them :( I even have a beautiful set of hardbacks in the LotR series. One day!

There are so many classics out there and I really didn’t mention many of them in my own post. It’s great to see what classics other bloggers love, though, I like to expand my horizons.

I enjoyed the Hobbit. The movie of Lord of the Rings convinced me to try reading the book.
Yes, there are so many classics out there.I mentioned only the one that came immediately to mind. I am sure we are going to find some great treasures with blog hopping.
